Seashell

A delicate fan somersaults in the sand

crashing and curling with the waves

to slide home on bubbling foam and deliver itself

at my freshly coral-painted toenails.

I add the shell to our plastic bucket of dreams

careful not to chip the memories.

While the setting sun descends with a smile

reflection winking for endless miles

I pull the seaweed from your hair

we buy matching dolphin rings on the pier.

NaPoWriMo Day 7 – Write a fortuitous poem.

Poetic Asides was similar – write a discovery poem.

I try to get these in on time, at least before midnight, but I’m always late.
