The Moon

The moon glows in your eyes tonight

as we dance and spin, layers of

inhibitions will fall away

a steady drum beat of desire.

Enveloped by darkness and limbs

the moon glows in your eyes tonight,

slides along satin promises

that will keep until tomorrow.

For now, we won’t consider if

sun beams will hold the same truths while

the moon glows in your eyes tonight.

We’ll float on stars and make believe.

Bared souls grip the sky, pull it down

shake the earth as it rises and

sets each moment ablaze because

the moon glows in your eyes tonight.

NaPoWriMo Day 30 – Write about something that happens again and again.

Last day of NaPoWriMo, but not the last day of poeming!  I’d planned to pen something short and sweet for today.  Maybe a cinquain or haiku, but then I started looking at poetic forms and found the quatern.  I couldn’t help myself. I had to give it a try.  Several hours later, this is my attempt.

Poetic Asides – Take the phrase “The (blank),” replace the blank with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem.
