Birds of a Feather

Day 19 of 28 Days of Unreason

“The birds are a chorus…clearly relatives of Mozart” – Jim Harrison

Some might say the frogmouth
composes tunes with strings
and while he favors Mozart

he can’t warble a thing.

And that loon
she says she’s flown to Paris
but we all know it’s not true,
it was a solo trip
to Jupiter
orchestrated by a cuckoo.

The dodo isn’t much better
eats lime-cello
from his fancy suite
tries to goose a sparrow
he’s fancied since the Spring.

A hardhead cranes his neck
the hunt for the key continues
knocks flat a trumpeter who squawks,
“T
oucan play at that game.
Best fly away
and you’ll not be Bach.”

WAAA! Screaming! Puneriffic all the way through! I would like to collect the poems written on this prompt because they have been the funniest and most clever of the month. Really love that 3rd stanza – lime-cello & all that ‘fancy’ stuff 😉
